Just curious about our members, do you use a backup heater?

Do you have a lesson you learned the hard way that brought this about?

I said no but i do have a few back-ups with all my other fish stuff

I honestly don't but I've never had a real heater problem. I had a few cheapy glass heaters break. One right when I took it out of the package but tend to stay away from them and have been fine. Not to mention if one did break I could work out some way to heat it/move stuff around til I got to the store.

Im surprised so many people are voting no...

No worries of a malfunction and a heater not working?!?!?:uhoh: Perhaps all the yes people like myself are simply worry warts?

Yeah, my heater hardly ever comes on. I guess that's the advantage of being an old fart. You have to keep the house warm.

My 55 G runs on 2x 150w submersibles the rest all run on just one heater but I have several backups as we have had one break on us before when we forgot to turn off the heater power bar during a water change :p.

I voted no, because I live in South Florida and it doesn't get that cold here anyway.

In the tanks that use heaters, I have a backup ready, but not in the tank. Most of my tanks don't have heaters, as I keep my fish room (ie, bedroom) at about 79 degrees, so ambient tempature warms the tanks more stable than a heater could.

If you're using it its not a back up anymore.
I have backup heaters,filters
