My girlfriend had a blue and gold macaw named charlie...He was the sweetest bird ever! I loved that thing soooo much. One day she came home from school and he was laying on the bottom of the cage breathing real hard and not moving. They immidatly rushed him to the vet but unfortunatly he died in her arms on the way to the vet. Poor guy was only 8 years old. It was a complete shock and nobody ever knew what happened.
Keep in mind birds are extreamly sensitive to chemicals. Teflon coated non-stick pots can quicly kill a bird, as well as scented candles, air freshiners, and strong cleaners.
