MFK Pearl Rays...Lets see them.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not sure but I thought at one point in time Pearls were like P14s in the fact they weren't supposed to be exported, and only exported by mis IDing.

Maybe the price jumped like the blackies when the ban was imposed and people only forked out the loot for blacks while eventually Asia met the demand and those CBs drove price down?

Last true WC male I saw was like $1600.

This sounds much more reasonable.... but 500??? thats nice MM price. no way lol

i was offered landed pearl pups out of asia for 700 without looking to hard. pearls shouls not.fetch black money in my opinion

Ok. Hmm the supply and demand principle seems to be lacking then. Bds are readily available yet pearls are not. Hmmm maybe I just don't get it or people are over them. Thanks for the input everyone tho

Not trying to be all knowing or anything just being honest with what I have seen and researched as I have been looking around and pricing allot of rays, its more or less what I do every day for a few hours everyday as Im always looking for another one to add to my group. Ask Jason he stalks me, and is adicted just as much, maybe a little less, lol

Im being honest 500.00 is a 100% true number i can point you to the post, and they didnt sell like hot cakes either, and from everyone that I have talked to (breeders) the light base pearls are more common then the dark base pearls actually. As with any ray it all depends on what someone will actually pay for them, but 1000.00 minus just isnt going to happen when people can pick up Leo pups for cheaper then that, and other nicer rays for a lower price. King Henlie is a great example of that. You can't expect to take your pair at the size and money you paid for them and then sell pups for the same price or more. And Yes a really nice marble can bring in 700+ but as we have also seen they normally bring in 250-350 at a larger size, not pups! and they sure dont sell super fast, they take allot of time to sell with tons of people looking them over.

wow 500? thats depressing....
Id refuse to sell a nice light base pup for that little. If they are 600 out of asia that just dosent add up. Id expect a nice light base pup to fetch something in the ball park of 1000 especially since I have only seen very few ligt base pearl in the US and very few actually look good.

The supply and demand principle is exactly what is going on here.. the demand for BD is so high that people have gone above and beyond to get rear and sell BDs. Pearls the demand is not as high (brown ray??) so people have not gone through the trouble to do it at a high volume. It is also one of the most basic rules...visual appeal, a bd stands out from the crowd (as does most blackies) while a pearl to us is beautiful but to the avg person put a pearl in a tank with a marbel mantilla and hystrix and you will get three different answers as to what is the nicest.

I agree there are not a lot around but I think if they were the price would drop like a rock as they would not hold the appeal and status of blackies.

Blackies will always be more popular and fetch a higher price.
As far as Pearls go, before I bought any higher priced rays I looked around for awhile. When I saw some pics of BIG Pearls I decided I liked them more than the rest. Very few Big Pearls out there. Their pattern continues to change well into adult hood unlike most other rays. Sure there are different qualities as with Marbles but the fact that they are fairly uncommon and very irregular in their pattern appeals to me personally. Far as price goes, that will be revealed when breeders start pumping them out.:)

HEY!! Dont label me a brown hater... lol... cause I'll probably be right in line when pearl pups pop up, I was only trying to explain the price drive and supply and demand to our friend notes.
