i have been told for silvers

males: lower jaw protrudes above upper jaw

females: lower jaws ends short of upper jaw

seems very clear in my two ?? !!
in the lower picture i posted the female is facing you.

Is it really that simple?

Here I've been told that protruding jaw was just another problem with silvers, like dropeye!

i have noticed since this thread started the the female silver picks on the male.....maybe pre spawning behavior ???

John I have a question. Do they swim aside one another, and the male nips the other one (but doesn't really bite too hard to rip scales or fins)? Then they get next to each other and sort of swim in circles together at times??

That is what mine are doing and I swear they are preparing to mate or something. Just not their usual behavior.

could it be possible even though it has been going on 6 months that they are still in the process of wooing each other..Arows live many years and the conditions have to be perfect, so it just may take awhile for them to actually breed.. because it seems to me when they finally do breed there is alot at stake with Dad deciding he won't be eating anything for a long time.. just a thought.. how long does it take for courtship in some of these asian fish farms.. at what age does an arow become mature enough to breed.. all these things have to be concidered.. ;)

Just thought it would be neat to keep a special thread for people who keep multiple Arows together.. we can keep track of the MFK people that have them and also keep track of the arows in groups..of two or more.. I would post a pic but i only have one Arow.....someday.... but for anyone that has 2 or more arrows in the same set up please post a picture.. this thread will only be for muliple arow owners.. in addition to your photos please try to inform us of any positives things that happen{such as a mating} and also all the negatives things to watch out for} as in hostility etc.. i hope everyone with multiple arows joins in.. please because we all can learn so much.......thanks:D

Later today I will be adding a Large Silver to my tank!! :) :( I have a Black in there and it may not work out but we need to see... as the fish landed on my buddies floor today and he does not want to see it die.. So I am going to let him grow out my 7-8" silver and I am going to see if his will be alright with my 15-16" Black which is thinner and about 4 to 6" shorter..

I know this is said to not work if the Arows are not added at the same time.. but we need to see in this case :) So i will post pics and we will see in the next few weeks if it works for more than a ffew minutes :D
