I have to agree with wyld on this one...having a wet/dry shop vac (set up for wet) on hand at all times should be a required piece of aquarium equipment. And yes...it will pull out almost ALL of the water in carpet.

I would recommend getting a large-ish shopvac. The smallest I would got is a 3HP shopvac.

Wolf, in some cases at my place, the shopvac has taken up the carpet too. :D

Eventually you'll get rid of all carpeting in the house, I have!

I agree with the above i moved all my tanks to the garage it's made life easier when water goes on floor i don't clean it up i continue to enjoy my fish.

Mine has a de-tachable motor to be used as a leaf blower.
Vac. the best you can, then blow it the rest of the way dry.
Horrendous noise, but fast and easy.

Yeah. Shop-Vacs make a horrendous noise. Try explaining that noise to the neighbors at 3 in the morning. That happened to me once.

Just the other day I was multi-tasking and was changing the water of my 75g and cook myself some lunch while the water was filling up. I kinda forgot about the tank when I heard a waterfall hitting my carpet. Yeah...I guess I got to go hungry next time I do water changes.

They actually make a full line of Quiet motor shopvacs, that are every bit as powerful. I want one... but would rather get another fish.
