Last year we brought you sharks.
This year you can touch them.
Now you can enjoy the most unique experience of its kind in the region – Newport Aquarium’s new Shark Central exhibit. It’s home to a field research facility and dozens of sharks you can actually touch. You’ll learn the official “two-finger touch” technique and how to properly pet them. It’s safe. It’s thrilling. It’s an experience your kids will never forget.
In the nearly 5,000-gallon touch tank, you can meet a Port Jackson shark, whose nose resembles a pig’s snout; the lesser sandshark, whose body has a flat arrowhead shape; and also the pajama catshark, a nocturnal shark that has been known to curl up in a ball on the ocean floor when it is disturbed.
Experience first-hand how it feels to touch these magnificent creatures and you’ll leave with a memorable experience and a new perspective on these commonly misunderstood animals.

Have an experience your group will never forget when you surround them with the wonders of an underwater world. Groups of 10 or more can receive special discounted rates by registering their group prior to their arrival. To receive this group rate, please download the Group Registration Form below and return it to the Sales Department or call us at 859-815-1471 directly. All tickets must be purchased in one transaction.
Once the Sales Department has processed your registration form the group leader will receive confirmation materials in the mail. All tours are self-guided. To enjoy all the aquarium has to offer, please allow approximately 2 hours for your visit.

Get an inside look at the Aquarium facility and learn what it takes to maintain a one million-gallon environment. In a guided tour, you’ll see miles of pipes, explore how the animals are fed and visit the vet lab. From divers in fins to animals in transport – you never know what you’ll discover.

11 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. Fri. - Sun.
Tours are limited. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. You can purchase these experiences at the Newport Aquarium ticket window or by calling (859) 261-7444 anytime prior to the day of your visit. Tickets are not sold by phone on the day of your visit.
