Wade averages more blocks?????? LeBron is throwing them into the tenth row, night in and night out. LeBron can guard 1- small 5's....Wade locks down guards...Apples and oranges really. Both have stepped up their respective D's in recent years.

Just because Lebron can guard all of those posistions doesn't mean he does, or that he's good at it. He is big and athletic, and that's about the extent of his D.

I just dont see the relevance of steals and blocks to defense, pippen and rodman played excellent D, but i dont think that any of them led the nba in those stats..Defense IMO is about positioning and beating your man to a spot, steals and blocks are products of gambling on defense..so IMO you can be a good defensive player even if you dont have high steals and blocks ave.

amare and webber ave. around 2 blocks a night that didnt make them defensive stoppers..

SHaq is what shaq is...

Pippen led the league in steals many times. Rodman took more charges than anyone. LeBron takes away the fast break. That has value against a team like Jersey, or Phoenix.

Yes, Wade's averaging more blocks this year. The thing you aren't seeing with the numbers is how and where he gets them. He's not just locking down guards. He's blocking big men, pf and c, with help defense, in the lane. To say there is no relevance in steals and blocks is absurd. They come from the very "position and beating your man" you speak of. Those two stats are kept for a reason, because they are significant. You get the ball back without them scoring so your defense was successful. Using Amare and Webber as examples is like using LeBron. LeBron and his fast break blocks are no different than those two. They usually happen to get a shot at a little guy when he's not paying attention. I agree with you spizz, they have both improved, but I think Wade is a couple levels above.

I was going to say that. A defensive stopper always carries the numbers to go along with the title. Yes, that will help LeBron against a few teams, but Wade's d is good against any team, any play.

Ultimately, Wade shuts his own men down (quick hands, quick feet, steals), then has help d that is as good as any (blocks). And I'm not saying those two stats are all that make up a good defender, because there are many other statless contributions, but they are absolutely relevant in proving someone a good defender.

I was hoping so. After KU wiped out MU for the conference title, I had to have something to take a shot at him with. :D

Hey, hey. Easy now guys.:nilly: Yoshii, it is great to see you around again. Sorry for your loss.

KU went down today.

LA faces SA tonight a night after Kobe tore Artest up. In Kobe's words, "I kicked his ***"

Most people don't realize Baylor's a good team. I didn't get to see much of the Kobe Artest deal, but the jawing I saw them doing during the game was hilarious. I kicked his ass......that's awesome.

When Kobe said "he should know better than that" He sounded like Rick James and Charlie Murphy! I was DIEING in laughter.....

I saw KU went down, and Baylor is pretty good, but KU is really not that good. I know they were ranked 11 at the time, but they aren't that great. Decent, but not 11th in the country.

Truthfully, I could argue with or against that.

Against- They didn't return any starters and yet have a legit chance of making a deep run (atleast the elite 8) in the tourney. We have Sheron Collins, and perhaps the most improved and 3rd best big man in the country, Cole Aldrich.

With- The team is frightenly young and perhaps we were only ranked 9th and then 11th because we are quite frankly a surprise team this season. Even Bill Self admitted to being surprised about how good this young team is.

I don't mean that as a dig or anything, I mean they lost their whole team, but they do not belong ranked that high. I like thier team, and Collins looks pretty solid, but I'm not sure they really can make a run.

Speaking of that, who is doing the NCAA tourney for MFK?
