Just thought I'd share a few. Anyone hoping to see dolphins and other feeder mammals need not keep looking.... you won't find any. :headbang2
I will say I do have a soft spot for manatees after working with a pair of South American girls for so long, though. :D

Main reef display was an open system (flow through) and all natural light:

Sea Turtles were all rehab animals. They do a lot of rehab work with endangered marine rescue animals. They have a huge area outdoors with great light and lots of great habitat.

Ok ok, mammals. Again, all are rehab animals. For any FL members, you probably heard about the male they just rescued last week with the skull fracture due to a boat prop. He's doing fine so far.

This calf is a newer rescue and being watched carefully. Lots of bottle feeding.

Cal Sealion show area (this is as close as I got)

Saltwater croc area is amazing! Great terrain area, lots of various water depths.

Anyone who knows me well or follows threads I make will see a trend.
Sharks. Crocs. FW Amazon. MSQ has some sharks, great crocodilian areas but lacks the Amazon.... but let me tell you, this little after thought of a pool next to the bird area is BEGGING to be a FW ray breeding pool. Good depth, natural light, good viewing, lots of space.... just needs to not be so green :D

gee, thanks for calling. I live like 15 minutes from there :p

j/k, glad you had a great time

Matt you take the greatest pics.. so big and crystal clear ...like i am really there in person.. beautiful..thanks..

I've never heard of the place, sounds like a great place to visit.

Nice Zoo! They're are some groups here trying to shut down an Asian Elephant enclosure that the zoo by my house is already in the process of building. I hope they finish the enclosure. They already have the elephants and they say the elephants are acting up a bit due to their current enclosure.

Thanks Liz! Not all the pics come out too well, but I try.

RDD - MSQ is fairly large. It was built back about WWII, so the layout has a little to be desired. But animal care is pretty up to date, and they spend as much time working on rehab and behind the scenes as they do working on displays.

Sorry, it was a busy week of running around while I was in town. :( I'm sure I'll be in the area quite often.

whenever you want, shoot a pm :)

you move down here or something?

Great pics Matt! They bring back some old memories, 25 years old to be exact. The shark channel looks exactly as I remember it. What kinds of sharks are cruising in it now? That place was where I saw my first manatee, what a sight that was.

You ever been to the Serpentarium in Punta Gorda on the east coast? When I was there 25 years ago, they put on a great show while milking snakes for venom and educating folks on the local snakes. I was lucky enough to get to hold an 8' indigo snake as part of the show. I'll never forget that day.
