I figured that in the wild if a small mammal were to enter the water on accident or otherwise then it would become part of the pirahna diet.
i dont know about that i think piranhas only attack a animal in distress or injured in wild, excluding breeding areas. i would assume most small animals near the water could swim. its possible once in a blue moon i suppose but not likely.
but im not a biologist...
something i learned recently is piranha are omnivores so that means they eat vegetables too. how many people here feed there piranha veggies?

Just one thing to consider, there is a fine line between feeding for proper nutrition and entertainment value (without regard to the consequences of improper diet).

Pinkies are great because they don't have any fur and very easy to obtain if you have a male and female mouse.

I don't see anything wrong with feeding mammals to fish such as Ps. In the wild they do eat mammals. I have seen footage of mice, cows, birds, reptiles, you name it they eat it. I do think the water quality would be damaged in a very short amount of time. I never fed my Ps any mammals for this reason.

lol how natural is cow in there diet, i dont believe there even native to north or south america(i dont think sa even has a equivalent like buffalo).

I would think that anything that comes into the p's habitate is a potential food source. This is why they are considered omnivorse. Although this does not mean that they are swimming around eating all the vegitation in there area. It does mean however that if a nut or something similair hits the water then they are capable of digesting this type of plant matter. It is also true that they will eat distressed animals, but I can only imagine that being any type of animal in the water, in there area. With that being said one can only think that, anything in a pirahna's habitat is a possible snack.

I assume you don't know how the locals get cows across streams that are dry in some areas??? You never heard of basically sacrificing a sickly cow upstream like couple cuts here and their so they all move upstream so they can basically move the group across without any issues?? I am not saying a cow persay is an actually normal part of their diet but a shoal of RBs in the wild can clean a horse in a minute down to the bone. Make no mistake this is reality. This is how the Ps got such a bad wrap..Sure all the media hipe is a bunch of BS but it is funny when hobbiests forget how ruthless these little guys can be when stuck in a dried up section of a stream or lake basically only cannibalizing until something else comes along while waiting for the rainy season. LOL, you can keep RBs all you want and consider them misunderstood, harmless, and shy but they are little monsters when they need to be. Do a little more research on their diet in the wild and see what the little monsters can do. Yes I would say 95% of their diet is fish. Check the dry season and see a little change in their diet. You could be suprised!!

Leopard gecko's are insect eaters in the wild and certainly don't break the pinkie's neck instantly, don't kid yourself. But I agree it's not cool to feed live rodents to piranha as can be seen on youtube. a fairly exclusive group of offenders seems to be to blame, the same type of people who fight pit bulls and purchase assualt rifles

Hey I own a few "assualt" rifles. What's wrong with that??
