The Michigan Cichlid Association will be holding our winter auction Saturday January 24th at Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #112. The FOP Lodge is located at 33845 24 Mile Rd Chesterfield, Mi 48047.

We will be allowing catfish to be sold at the auction again (up to 5 bags per seller).

We will also have a reserve available, which will work as follows:
The seller will pay a $5.00 fee to the auction workers at the front table, receive a special sticker and place the bag(s) of fish on a designated table. At noon, we will begin to auction reserve bags until they have all come up, at which time, we will return to whatever color we were in the process of auctioning. Any bags that did not meet the seller's reserve will be set aside and the seller will have until 1:00pm to pick up their fish. If they do not pick up their fish, they will be assigned the last color to go up and sold according to the regular auction rules.

Cam, this is an experiment. Every time I post this announcement, it always ends up in that forum (doesn't matter where I post it, it always ends up there) I figure this way, at least some of the African fans get to see it.

there's more africans at the auction anyways. I've told most of the locals on this forum about your auction already anyways. There should be at least 2-3 new faces at the auction just from me telling craigslist people.

too bad that is so far away. I would love to go. Maybe next year, with some heads up, I can visit my family in Flint the day before and then go and head home afterwards. SO pm me next time!

Well, it's definitely more than 70% on average, but there's no guarantee how much we get of anything. I know at the last auction we had some different geophagus, and wouldn't be surprised if John & Betty Oyer brought some this time as well. We get quite a few angels and also get some south and centrals as well. With the addition of catfish, we're also seeing some plecos and corydoras.

I went to meet up with a guy that had a L14 goldie pleco for me.

I only stayed about an hour and didn't bid on anything because I dont have a extra tank cycled.

yeah so next time I need to make sure I have a extra tank cycled before I go.
Thinking about doing a Gymnogeo tank after seeing all those cool juvi's there.

I only saw bristle nose pleco's up for auction, was hoping to see more fancy one's but I guess there harder to breed. Not like someone's going to import them and risk selling them cheap at a auction.

It's real hard to go through all those bags and get a good idea what the fish will look like after they settle in.

Looked like a good place to get some tropheus too, saw a nice group of 20 go for $80 early in the morning, that seems like a great deal to me.

What did you guy's get, any thing cool ???
