The goby are particularly illegal to possess.

i got 2 perch one bass and 3 gobies
i was wondering if the gobies are illegal or anything

There is currently a $10,000.00 fine for being in possession of a live Round goby in Michigan without a permit.

Note: you can have as many dead ones as you want legally..In fact it is illegal to release them back into the water alive also.

Johnathan Gray, you are under arrest for the possesion of the round goby, anything you say can and will be held against you in the court of law! jk lol

Dude....Round gobies are not something to joke about. These animals are a serious pest that are causing real problems. Sorry for my lack of humor but there is nothing funny about these frog eyed bastards.

Because fish don't actively try to expand their territory in impossible conditions. I don't see any gobies trying to expand outside of the Black Sea into the Great Lakes without any help of crossing the Atlantic.

Because most fish cannot fly or hop, skip and jump continents due to natural barriers that restrict distribution. Things like oceans, mountain ranges and suitable habitat availability tend to restrict natural Brackish / freshwater fish movement... That is why. Fish can not easily move across oceans and continents without humans being the vector of introduction.

Are you implying that it is just fine for Invasive and ANS species to continue to be introduced Just because people have become the most invasive species on the planet? Good for us so good for everything else....

Sorry... it is not OK for these animals to persist where they do not belong. The Great lakes as well as the Mississippi drainage etc. (Pick a North American watershed) have enough problems already due to Anthropogenic effects.(damming, channelization, pollution, siltation etc.) we do not need to compound it with continued destabilization by invasive and exotic aquatic life.

The above Michigan law placing big fines on the movement or possession of Invasive species is one of the best in the country IMO..Unfortunately it does not go far enough to jail those transporting these fish it just fines them.

When slaves came in the 1700's we BROUGHT them, and they were aloud to stay in america, so why not these fish??
