so today I was just setting back watching my tank for an hour or so, and in the corner of my tank I see something white jump. I take a closer look and I seen lots of very little white microorganisms moving around jumping. they are on the glass, and on the drift wood.

-I have had the tank up and running for about 4 months now.

-I have one RES, 2 Plecos, and 5 giant Danios. and I recently just added about 10 ghost shrimp for my RES to snack on.

could they be baby shrimp? are they harmless? are they a parasite? how did they get there? how do I get rid of them? should I get rid of them?

here is a video I found on you tube that looks very much like what I have:

There was a post week describing what you are talking about. I hear it come from over feeding and poor water.

But my water is not murky at all, it is rather crystal clear.

Crystal clear and good water quality is 2 different things. One talks about the clarity (appearance) of the water while the other talks about the chemistry (overall condition) of the water.

They are Planaria worms. Harmless to the fish. Just causes an aesthetic problem. You can't remove them from the tank but you can reduce their numbers.

Upgrade your filtration, Remove uneaten food/reduce feeding and vac your gravel regularly.

I looked up some videos of the worms you said they are. their movements are not the same and the shape certainly is not. they craw and jump they do not swim around. I also found some images of water fleas. Is it possible that this is what I have?
