Hello, not sure if this is the right place to post.

I have notice super tiny white dots moving in my sump tank and occasionally in the main tank where else the algae is most concertrated at.

This small white dots is really small and i can make out that it has a long tail like a mini tadpole.

i was wondering what that is ?

are they harmful or their just erm good bacteria that grown too huge lol.

I believe they're like the same ones that I had. Very small slug looking guys that were white and I'd find them climbing the glass. From what I was told, they are not harmful to your fish and are only there because of a abundance of uneaten food. Do a good gravel cleaning (and your filter if you're seeing them in there) and feed your fish lightly over the next few days. The little white slugs will starve with no extra food to feed on. It worked for me and I haven't seen anything like it in 6 months.

I use to have this exact same thing in one of my chiclid tanks Man was my water awsome in that tank. my mystery white wiggleys stayed in my bio filter though. Never knew what they were but my fish were healthy and happy. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's water lice but it doesn't sound like it from your description.

Sounds like ostracods.

From Wiki:

Scientific classificationKingdom:Animalia
Phylum:Arthropoda
Subphylum:Crustacea
Class:Ostracoda

Ostracoda is a class of the Crustacea, sometimes known as the seed shrimp because of their appearance. Some 65,000 species (13,000 of which are extant taxa) have been identified,[1] grouped into several orders. This group may not be monophyletic.[2] Ostracod taxa are grouped into a Class based on gross morphology. Their molecular phylogeny remains ambiguous.[3]
Ostracods are small crustaceans, typically around 1 millimetre (0.04 in) in size, but varying from 0.2 millimetres (0.0079 in) to 30 mm (1.2 in) in the case of Gigantocypris. Their bodies are flattened from side to side and protected by a bivalve-like, chitinous or calcareous valve or "shell". The hinge of the two valves is in the upper (dorsal) region of the body.
Ecologically, marine ostracods can be part of the zooplankton or (most commonly) they are part of the benthos, living on or inside the upper layer of the sea floor. Many ostracods, especially the Podocopida, are also found in fresh water and terrestrial species of Mesocypris are known from humid forest soils of South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania.[4] They have a wide range of diets, and the group includes carnivores, herbivores, scavengers, and filter feeders.

Filter feeders....not a bad addition if you think about it....as long as they arent intrusive!!

I think they're most likely copepods, I'd definitely like to hear from an expert though.

I don't think they're ostracods, they're the wrong shape, and what Cookie*420 describes sounds like planaria flatworms.

I've only noticed them in quantity in my 8 litre cherry shrimp tank but I've noticed two different types; one tadpole shaped, like a tiny horseshoe crab, the other with a two lobed fan tail, both types white and maybe 1mm long. Similar to the two at bottom right in this illustration: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...eckel_Copepoda.jpg/426px-Haeckel_Copepoda.jpg

The things in my tank literally just look like a line they are so hard to see that its easy to miss actually I thought I was rid of them until I saw this post and decided to look. I don't see any of them on the fish and my fish are fine but I would still like to be rid of them. Kinda creeps me out having this in my room.
