Recently when at my LFS I was talking to my favorite associate (tons of knowledge) and she asked if I was still using Seachem products on my tanks (Stability & Prime).

She recommended that I might want to try the Microbe Lift line to see what I thought of them. She said that they have always used it on their ponds and they have been trying the aquarium line of products on their tanks for the past year with awesome results. I have a 246gallon Goldfish tank so she said the pond line would work fine that size tank.

I have been researching their website and they seem to be a well respected company.

Has any body out there been using their products with great success?

How do they compare the Seachem?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

I use Microbe-Lift, it's the only thing I put in my tanks and they are chemical free too. I only have great results with Microbe-Lift products. I currently use about five of them.
- special blend / niteout II (for cycling tanks fast)
- herbtana / artemiss (for any type of fungus, injury or ick, hands down the best on the market)
- super dechlorinator

It may be a little more expensive then the others but well worth it.

That associate has info not knowledge. If you want knowledge you read a book or talk to someone in an educational field. When you go around talking for knowledge you get opinions. Aquatics is a science and doesnt mix well with opinions. Read a book, like "The Naturalist Guide To Freshwater Fish" then go talk to that associate. You'll realize all she had has opinions not knowledge and facts. Never seek knowledge from someone who is also selling you something.

BTW- once you read "The Naturalist Guide To Freshwater Fish" you will never need a Microbe or Saechen product again. Really is that associate gave you the knowledge you needed she would also be telling you not to bbuy 99% of the products.

All righty then, you keep reading those idget books and I'll continue to use Microbe-Lift. People who rely on books for profit thinking it will make them smarter are clueless.

you're quite the microbe lift fan lol i remember somewhere else you posted that you used to use Seachem Prime, but switched over to Microbe-lift's products. why did you switch over? what differences did you see? not questioning your move, just trying to open my perspective as I and many others rely on Prime to get our water dechlorinated etc.

Yep I'm a Microbe-Lift fan boy indeed lol I never switched over from Seachem, I've always used ML products from day one of getting into this hobby. It was recommended to me by one of the fish guys and the results were great. I did happen to try some Seachem products to compare. Prime is good and it works, the capful dosage idea is great, cost effective and popular. I think API has a more closer related list of product to compare then Seachem. I just don't like the API bottle caps, they are awful and many of their products/bottles look and are named very similar so it gets very confusing whats what.

The biggest difference is there's no chemicals, so no harm to the fish and you can use many of their products simultaneously. The products work like magic so there's no need to think about it. The only thing about their dechlorinator is you have to treat for entire tank and not just the amount you add, lost some fish that way. That's where prime is more superior in the ease of dosing and being more cost effective.

I buy everything in 16 oz bottles because I do a lot of water changes. The challenge with ML it's not as widely available as the others though I have found a place where I can get my MAGIC STASH (5 products). I always find myself coming back to Microbe-Lift, it's like the gold standard **** lol

Hmm, I'm always open to natural alternatives. Just wanted a little clarification as what you see, is not always what you think they are.. those little "organic" milk bottles by Horizon you see being sold in starbucks etc., the little bottle u see kids drinking cause their parents want a "healthier alternative" aren't really organic, more of an advertisement scheme haha

I've got some deciding to do.. that really sucks that you have to treat the entire tank for every water change. However, if you treat the water before it's added to the tank, doesn't this eliminate this need?

Well you can go to the Microbe-Lift website and they have videos that show how their stuff works. ML is one of the few that doesn't need to hype it. I have not seen any of the other products be able to make the claims and back it up with science which is another reason why I like ML.

Here are the ones I use (on a confidence scale of 1-10, these work about a 12)

For fast cycling of tanks
- special blend
- niteout II

For conditioning the water
- super dechlorinator

For dealing with parasite or fungus
- herbtana
- artemiss

I like to tell vegetarians and vegans that they are eating organic and then hide some meat inside lol I'm evil I know. Everything is organic when you think about it.
