Micropterus cataractae - Shoal bass

Distinguishing characteristics:

-When the mouth is closed, the back edge of the jaw extends to the back edge of the eye although not as far as the largemouth bass.
-Toothpatch typically absent.
-No separation between primary and secondary dorsals.
-Native only to one main river system and it's tributaries in west-southwestern Georgia and northwest Florida.

Distinguishing characteristics:

-When the mouth is closed, the back edge of the jaw extends to the centerline of the eye.
-Toothpatch typically present.
-No separation between primary and secondary dorsals.
-Typically found in Coosa River and Tennesee Drainage systems.
-White edged caudal.
