Hello; Check out Carolina Biological Supply or Wards. I do not know if they have websites, but bet they do. I use to get supplies for my science classes from them. If I recall correctly a stereo scope can magnify up to around 20x which is good for viewing many things that are visible to the eye. A compound microscope with multiple lenses will be good for most of the smaller stuff. I don't think you will need to get one with an oil immersion lens as they are very costly. Oil immersion magnifies up to around 1000x if memory serves.
