Well I was cleaning yesterday... That ran into today.. Temp substrate while I am waiting for the other to dry...

Came in this morning to change to regular substrate and found this!!

My Homie pulled them apart alittle to see and Sure enough he was gettin it!!! I have had the female for a month.. She was a little small for me to expect this...... I don;t think she even had eggs.. But I am still learning and have allot to still learn...

But I guess for now they are compatible.,..:D:popcorn:

This however is par for the course.. Everything I have and everything I have picked up has bred this last year!!

Thanks.. But I think she is still young to breed... I am pretty sure she wasn't ovulating:) But I am hopin :)

If you know she's too young/small to breed, why did you put them together? She can die if you breed her too young.

:eek::eek:

;)

She is 44" and weighs just over 3lb.

She will not die if she is too young to breed

She will not breed if she is too young

If she weighs 3 pounds which is over 1500 grams she is plenty old enough to breed and ovulate and lay eggs.

Im not sure you undertand how breeding works,

female develops follicles naturally and they grow in size
male breeds female and she holds sperm
when follicles reach the correct size the female ovulates
ovulation is when she passes the follicles and the sperm and thet mix together and the follicles now eggs become fertilized.

NOW THAT IS AWESOME!!!

So thanks!! Very much!!!!

So she could or is holding sperm now ? And when she ovulates that sperm will be used to fertilise the eggs ?

Ok... So how long till they ovulate from this point... Could be days?? could be months? Years??

And how will I now?

if she's going to lay eggs it will be in about a month or 6 weeks (if i remember right).. been awhile since we had snake eggs.

your best bet is to start getting prepared NOW.. i don't know what ball pythons like to lay their eggs in, we made a covered box that the female could get into through holes just big enough for her and filled it up to the bottom of the side holes with peat moss. but we were raising bull snakes (unsuccessfully, my hubby couldn't just leave stuff alone and moved the eggs and they all rotted).

we found a website that showed how to make the box and prepare everything. i'm sure there is something similar for ball pythons. or you could call your LRS if they have knowledgable folks and see if they can tell you what to do and ask if they will incubate the eggs for you..
