Anyone ever have luck keeping a Midas with tankmates??My Midas is like 2-3 inches,i want to put him with an Oscar who is like 5-6 inches, could this work??The tank will be either a 75 gal or 100 gal. Thanks!!:nilly:

I had my RD in a CA/SA comm tank. Everything was going fine until the RD decided it didn't want tankmates anymore and sstarted beating the crap out of everybody.

should be fine for a while in that tank, though eventually that midas will kill the oscar unless you get a bigger tank.

Bad idea.

I've had success with convicts - provide rockwork.

It might bully the oscar, believe it or not. Some oscars are more aggressive than others, you could try your luck. It's best to get a bigger tank to reduce aggression, and you should get another fish. The reason is that aggression is always reduced when you have more than 2 fish. Good luck!

I'm sure you can keep midas with tankmates in very large cichlid communities (as in 200+ gallons). In your situation I'd be surprised if it worked though, as the midas will focus all of it's aggression on the oscar.

100G is a bit small for the 2. 160 will prolly work. But this isnt always an option to upgrade. I would say go with one or the other.

My midas would not share a 4' tank with anything once he hit 3" or so. He lived in a divided tank until he hit about 6-7", then got a 75gal for himself. Guess you could use convicts with lots of hiding spots. But once a midas hits 10" or more, those decorations become projectiles for him to smash against the aquarium glass. It's downright amazing when you see the power of one of these beasts.

Yeah, it depends on the fish. Mine in the avatar was fine with convicts....
