Midas and Tankmates???....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine was fine until it hit 4" with tankmates, then one day I woke up and looked in the tank, and he had the others pinned in the top left hand corner..He grew to about 6" in solitary confinement, but had to part with him the other day to make room for some new grammodes. I'm questioning this now, as my RD/Midas was the most personable/psychotic guy I've owned....sigh.

With a big tank something 6'x18" or better 6'x24" it can work but I think your tank is a tad small for life. You can throw him in and it may work but there are no guarentees unless you luck out.

It can work it just depends on how aggressive your Midas gets. I have two Midas one lives peacefully in my 255 with Dovies, a Jaguar, Tetracanthus etc... but hes not the boss of the tank. My second Midas is by himself as he is always trying to be the boss. It just depends on their aggression. And overcrowding will be the only way it will work. Get yourself a big Male Jaguar or Freddy - they arnt overly aggressive but they dont take crap. They can become the boss of the tank and not kill everything.
