ya i wouldnt turn my back on a rd. they are the nastiest cichlid ive ever seen. the one i had was nastier then my jag and was smaller then my male festae i had. i introduced the rd in the festae tank and they went at it for awile and the newly introduced rd beat my bigger settled in festae. got rid of that rd. this is the first time ive ever owned a dovii so im kind of excited to see how he turns out when larger.

I was gonna say the exact same thing. It will start with fin-nipping and chasing which may appear to be like the Midas is "softening" and quit being a headbanger.
I had a a Midas which was too aggressive to my JD so I put him in my breeding tank of convicts and he dint do anything.
Of course, the next few days the female con got bitten and others were hiding. He basically re-established his dominance in that tank.
im going to go with dovii as my most aggressive cichlids followed by my black nastys and red tiger moto. i have a umbee i know would destroy a red devil and he cant hang with my dovii but all around the black nasty ive had are the biggest nasty bold and most regal cichlids ive ever owned ive never seen a fish look that good and be so mean . i have pair now that are crazy and the fry are crazy too. i have a tank of dovii fry now 2.5-4 inches in lenth who have reduced there numbers from a couple hundred to about thirty something in a couple months going to see who are the last dovii standing i usually use the fry to feed my sleeper gobys thought id try something different this time
that red devils gunna turn on all those fish garenteed,and hes gunna do it at night or when noone is around,red devils are in my opinoin one of the toughest cichlids. BE CAREFUL,thee doviis wont see it coming
