i had the same question not long back..and the answer was it was looked down upon and it should be 75G-90G

You're making the right choice, get the tank then get the fish. Like Jason said you will not be dissapointed.
Go for the extra volume the 90G offers.
I'm pretty sure you could get a nice trade for both your 55g.

I would be scared for mine in a 55 for the simple fact of the thinner glass. Mine glass bangs way too hard for 1/4" thick glass.
Finally got my Midas. (well its most likely a midas/ red devil) but close enough. He is still small. I ended up getting a 75 for him. Got real lucky to find him.
