The other day I said to a poster once the lights go out they (his fish) should mellow out and then after I posted it I thought about what I had said I realized I gave bad advice and reposted that the op should remove the new fish to a different tank. The trouble usually starts shortly after lights out for an hour or two when the fish become very territorial and aggressive in low light conditions. Thats the risk you take when keeping similar sized highly aggressive fish together eventually somebody gotta go. Sorry for the loss.
Just a question when you say Midas is the fish Amphilophus Citronellas or is it a mix? The reason I ask is that Cits are generally more tolerant of tank mates (please note I said generally) where Labiatus or a mix of the two can be outright killers with zero tolerance, that will attack their shadow. Just curious.
