midas/midevils feeding habits

Female fish don't have to have a male around to lay eggs. I had a Green terror that did it several times with no males about, just a female Oscar.

She would lay a row of eggs, turn right around and eat them.
Had that a few years back with two females that mated (flowerhorns), and formed a pair for some time. They would each lay eggs, in turn, each time the other acting as male. I can post a link to an old video, if anyone is interested.

With tube out, and displaying spawning activity, would be #1 reason for not eating.
Her mind is currently focussing on something else. Lol
Yes, and yesterday she started eating a little thawed frozen food. Today, her tube has retreated and she seems to be back to her normal pissed-off, but still not very interested in food. I did a 50% water change, it's probably because of that. I think I should start considering getting a mate for her.

Quick update: she is back to eating, I jump-started the process with about a dozen live crickets (i don't usually do live food), I took out the surface plants, and now she is eating frozen bloodworms, albeit without the passion that she has when eating crickets. Still doesn't like the food she has been enjoying for over a year. Guess she is just weird like that, but is otherwise healthy and happy.
Thanks for the help and the advice RD., Jexnell, troublesum and Milingu. Much appreciated!
