right now im in school and i got him yesterday afternoon and he was fiine than but i hope i don't go home and find any of my smaller fish floating!!!!!

anyways his mouth is pointy and almos like a beak so is that what Red devils have usually or is it a midas???

he/she has some white and a slight hump and its around 8''!!!!

thats my best description of him/her and ill get some pics by this afternoon!!!!!

from what i have described does it sound like a midas or a red devil???

Unless you got it from a reputable breeder, it is most likely a common hydrid. Still great fish, just not "pure."

ok thanks. wow this guy is as peaceful as any fish can be!!!!! i have him with smaller cichlids and he does not do anything to them!!! he did not even touch a silver arowana that was smaller than him!!!! i guess they all don't live up to their name!!!!!!

They are mostly more aggressive to other cichlids, particularly towards other midas/red devils. Basically he will hate anyhting that looks like him.

Or looks anything slightly like him. If it could, I think our RD would go through the glass after our orange/white cat.

yup my female rd would charge the glass when i would wear orange or red shirts...especially when she had laid eggs

i have two red/orange parrots and a gold severum in the tank and he does not bother any of them most of the time!!!!! i guess this fishis not so agressive.

im starting to think its a she because oif the body structure.

but normally do midas or reddevils have beak like mouths????? i justwant to know if it resembles more a RD or a midas.

thanks

from your description it sounds like it more closely resembles a red devil. how big is it by the way? red devils and midas can be very peaceful up until they reach around 6-8" (sometimes earlier) but at that time the attitude will change completely and no fish will be safe if your tank is less than a 125 (and even then it's very iffy). ;)
