I'm gonna throw in my .02 and say it'll end up female. No true way to tell without vent pic but if its 7-8" as you say, the males I have were very obviously male at that size. You could throw in a large female convict. If your Midas is a male, the hump will not be far behind.

This a pair of mine for reference.
I have 3 males and 2 females currently. Although I've vented to verify, it becomes more obvious who is who every week. The males just seem brutish. Battle scars all over their face, humps, short snout. The females retain some of the sleekness and almost look like prettier fish.

I have a same size one. It is pure fight though. Not a single red or orange spot. I'm wondering it would ever get colours in the body
