So I tested my water today and the pond has a .25 ammonia reading. I used my usual method of cycling by taking media from other established filters. I’ve been doing it this way for a long time and this is the first time it hasn’t worked completely. I’m using prime to detoxify it but I can’t add anymore media, but I am cleaning a couple canisters tonight or tomorrow. Do think if I wrung out a couple sponges into the pond that would help or would it make it worse?

PS, I added a couple bottles of Safestart just now too and I’m thinking ringing out the canister sponges might be the same concept.

any updates, J Joshuakahan .
Mine has started to become more bolder and is even hanging out with the fish gang. It now comes more frequently in the open and shows more interest in the variety of foods i feed. Once i am done with my exams, i will add more plants, driftwood, etc to make it feel even more secure.

Mine became shy on day too but I’ve added more decor which is helping and I’m going to add a little more. We’ll see if that helps. That’s awesome yours is coming out more, how long have you had it?

i bought mine on 11 april, so thats about 1 month 7 days.
Oh ok, so he’s just barely getting settled in. I’ve noticed with older fish the process can take much longer compared to juvies. I bought a 20” jardini a few years ago and she took almost two months to fully settle in

Yeah it depends on the personality and intelligence of the fish. MY pacu took about 3 months to completely settle in while my snakehead took a day or two. But since we both have cichlids, i would expect two to three months minimum for these guys to 'completely' settle in. But who knows, they might settle in sooner?!

I added about 2sqft of frogbit a couple hours ago and that seems to have made mine a little more comfortable, now I’m just gonna have to remove some as it grows lol
