Hi,
i had a 107 gallons tank with 2 oscars in it. Because many of u told me the tank isnt big enough for them i decided to change the stocking. Today i sold them both, now i m wondering if one male midas would be fine in there? Want this fish for months and now i got the opportunity. But before i make the same mistake again, I wanna ask for your opinion.
Tank size: 48 inch x 20 inch x 26 inch

Your tank is good enough for anything that gets 12-14 ish inches. Most mid sized Americans will do great. SOLO

Thanks for your answers. I have an additional question about the tank setup, cause i read they need hiding spaces.
I‘m not sure if this is to little swim space

Will this be fine?

Plants will get uprooted once he sets in. As for the wood. I would just keep the one on the right on one side and remove the other one.
BTW I don't think they require hiding space , its just that there should be a piece where it could stay away from sight , if they get spooked by chance.

A little late to this, but IMO & IME your tank size is a little on the tight side, for a full grown male Amphilophus cit. It will work, but unfortunately in this size of tank you can't add much in the way of decor. Again, unfortunate because this species does in fact appreciate a hide/cave, and again IME this isn't something that leaves this species in domestic strains. This genetic code is imprinted from birth, and in the one pic that loaded for me, your fish is actually utilizing the driftwood for just that, a hide to escape danger/predators.

Good luck, one of my all time favorite species.
