Just wondering if sand will hurt my midas? She does a good amount of moving gravel everywhere. Will the sand hurt her if its ingested? I know with reptiles it can become impacted and cause big problems.

No! It'll be better with sand cause the substrait can pass the gills more easily!

I dont have to worry about her getting the gravel stuck in her gills. The gravel is decently large but im gonna switch to sand soon.

^IMO I think sand is a easier to vaccum, as most of the fish waste stays on top. Unlike gravel where it falls in crevices and blends in. The only downfall is that its easier to suck up. I usually just vaccum all the visible waste, then take my hand and stir the bottom up and finish by just siphoning the amount of water I want to change.

To each his own:).
