Find a pair and bug their nest with the hook and wet bread ball. Should bag the male easy.

my experiences with them they hit live minnows and small spinner baits like beetle spins.. I know mayans are alot easier to catch on anything so I think alot of people get them confused with midas on here..

What you do is pre soak some large cichlid pellets and put em on your hook....might work.

these are wild fish and don't take too well to pellets or non-live food unfortunately
