Middle Brace is breaking, is there a DIY fix?

oh ok i gotcha thanks a lot yeah i definitely think this is the route im going to go, only tough part is that where the crack is, is at the beginning of the brace and not actually on the brace so there is not much room before the crack to put in a screw before it gets to where the glass is but ill have to look and see.

When you go shopping for the bracket, get one that is large enough to accomplish what you need it to and will move the nut/bt holes away from the crack. You might need a 4" L bracket but they're pretty cheap.

I just looked at the L brackets (I work at Lowes) and the 5" L bracket comes with 3 predrilled holes on each side of the bracket. If you use that bracket and use the two holes furthest from the bend, that will put your holes plenty far away from the crack.
