It's an asian sheepshead wrasse (Semicossyphus reticulatus) in breeding colors. Here's an older specimen in normal colors:

With your knowledge base of fish as amazing at it is, i am suprised you don't keep some very interesting saltwater fish.

Every bit of my supplies and fish have to be shipped in since there are no lfs (besides chain stores - *shudder*) for hours in any direction. The freight on salt mix alone would kill me considering the size tanks I run.

Ah well dr.fostersmithaquatics does their 8.99 shipping no matter what the amount of goods and weight. Always great deals on salt mixes and large quanity discounts. Match prices, and do what they can for you. As well as their customer service is amazing, which is most important honestly. I don't know if they still have that sale but i am pretty sure it happens once every 6 months. And i only do water changes every 4 months, so a 200gallon box of salt can last me a couple months..

But i understand :(

besides petsmart has great salt mixes .... coral life is what i use religously, without ro water as well.

I would guess that 200lbs wouldn't last him a day. LOL

haha maybe not i guess. Thats for my 360 gallon, and that is a decent amount of fish. Refugiums in SW can be set up to almost be a complete water recycling unit. Zoodiver mention steralizing water in big systems and reusing it. I am sure there are ways around it. 2lbs of food get dumped into my system a day and my nitrates are hardly visable. They pop up after the eel takes a dump then they are gone the next day and diminsh...

Yet this brings me to another question.... Why has oddball not found a way!? lol

Why am i asking then if oddball has not found a way?? ...

Yeah, SW has a lot of upkeep if you don't have good SW LFS around you, I live in Orange County, there's probably more reefer's in so cal than any 3 states combined. Almost every LFS is reef based, with little FW options, especially if you want something other than goldfish, hybrid Africans or Jack Dempsey's.

But when I was keeping reef's it was great !
