changed my mind, send him to the uk!-) got any fry to post me yet bud, how hard can it be to post to the uk?

Hi friend,

I live in British Columbia, Canada and am looking for a dovii. I do agree with your the other members here, i don't think you should sell this fish, he is indeed spectacular. I had some questions, was wondering where you purchased him from? is he captive bred or wild caught? are the parents Costa Rican or Nicaraguan Dovii?

I have a 180 gallon 6x2x2 I intend to devote to a pair of doviis. I keep some massive snakeheads in my other setups and love aggressive fish, so i'm interested in seeing how tenacious these fish are. Could you point me to the direction of a vendor that can supply this quality of dovii?

Cheers, wish you all the best!

Nick

I got him from a an lfs almost 3 years ago and it has since closed. The guy said when they were dry that they were wild caught but there's no way of really knowing for sure. My guess is he is a mic but again no way of knowing for sure.

Nope no fry. Just got rid of their last batch. And no idea how shipping I the uk would go lol I've only shipped once and it was 3 hours away. I'm just a tad lazy for this whole shipping thing tbh haha

Haven't measured him but guessing he's a solid 15 inches. Doesn't seem to eat much tho. Only interested in splashing me with water and attacking the glass

Yeah my guy has never been a great eater...very picky and it has to be at the exact same time of day and he won't pick anything off the bottom lol.

Yeah its messed up. I wonder if mine and yours are related. I picked mine up around Detroit(Wet Thumb Aquatics) and they aren't the most common fish in our area. Wet Thumb was breeding them for awile, so any dovii had a good chance of coming from them (they probably sold a few thousand minimum). I sold off about 500 fry three years ago to the GTA area and some around London....when I see 8-10 inch Dovii for sale in Mississauga...I think there is a real good chance they came from my guy considering how uncommon they were. Spencer Jack seems to be the only of Dovii Breeder I know of in Canada...but his dovii have a very characteristic look to them so they are easy to identify. You never know...its easy to know who's who up here lol.

I have a Green Istlantum, not a umbee obviously but he has also turned into a very picky eater in his older age. He is so lazy that I have to drop them near him for him to even attempt it, unless he is really hungry then he will seek them out. Its actually become quite upsetting that he is so useless haha
