Ah well I don't run heaters on most of my tanks (I would rather just keep the whole house a comfortable temp), and filters, well it is hardly any electricity. IE point at the computer using ~500 watts, point at an ac 110 and mention that is about 1/10th the watts usage.
(And yes 6-8 months is hardly any time... heck none of your fish even close to half grown. Remember a lot of the can live to be ~10 years old.)
