You make it seem like you are going to work for the CIA or something, pretty funny stuff:screwy:

I have to agree, its pretty cheesy that they are sup anal about everything. But whateva, best of luck to yaz bro!

Yeah, they are pretty strict on their policy. They already knew about my importing business so the DM had a pretty good talk with me about it.. Unfortunately this same store, in which I used to work at, hands out my business cards. So really, It would of caught up to me sooner or later.

I am going to see what I can do about about handing out MFK stickers/wristbands though :) I don't think it will happen, but you never know! I will be definately spreading it word of mouth for those who are interested in rare/large fish.

and just FYI everyone, please don't stereotype these type of stores.. I know most across the country are very sub-par, but honestly this store is probably (sadly) the highest quality in terms of fish in my area. HOWEVER, I vow to make it the best fishwall/system in the company, because it is one of the newer systems and tell you what it is NICE. :D

Wouldn't it be nice to see the big box stores carry Dats and Rays? Mmm, yes. We will see..

and don't worry, I'm not going anywhere.. :grinno: I just have to be unobtrusive in my actions.. :grinyes:

honestly its nice to see a change from within the system since everybody bashes these stores, this is one of the only solutions i have really seen that can affect change in our hobby...go miles!

Did you move or is it one in Spokane? Cuz there were some aight stores in the Walla Walla/ Tricities area...haha. Kinda discouraging when a PetCo/PetSmart is your best source of rare fishies...hopefully this will improve....

You're right.

Pretty soon there will be 3 sources of fish.

Big Box stores with 'beginner' type fish, which will be the most plentiful in numbers.

Online Vendors which will become the face of advanced fishkeeping, if it hasn't already.

Local Fish Stores which will become decreasingly existant..

If I could unveil a happy medium of 'advanced' fish keeping in the 'big box' stores, sort of as a 'seed' for the future of the hobby, I think it could make a difference.. I was employed at this certain location prior and I had a big voice with the DM on the fish selection and care sheets.. They updated (but not very well) the fish selection and info cards, but not good enough, IMO. I am going to work hard and speak loudly for advanced hobbyists and see what I can do, because I am no longer involved in 'cleaning' of any sorts, if you get my drift. :D

I talked to a Petsmart manager that was a pretty hard core fish guy. He is constantly pissed at "corporate" because they dictate what he can and cannot order. Not to mention that their systems are computer controlled for one set of fairly neutral water parameters.

It would take massive managerial changes at the corporate level to ever get "Dats" or Rays" at a Petsmart. Anything beyond "bread and butter" just is not gonna happen IMO.

Can you BUY from other places? LOL....oh man. That would suck if they said you have to completely live offa your place! Oy! I would rebel! Start bringin the pikes back into the picture...and i'll totally support cha bro! ;)

Yeah, I know all about it.. However, they do have off-line systems that could be installed such as Stingray Pools, Hard-Water, or Soft-Water.. Only if corporate would pull the stick out. I will definately work on it.

BTW, The systems usually are on automatic drip systems, so the water parameters are that of the tap water.. and it is often preached, even on MFK, to allow your fish to adapt to your water parameters. Sometimes 'hardcore' hobbyist have a hard time changing their ways and see it fit to re-create ideal conditions by messing with water parameters.. But, with some species it is necessary.

Also keep in mind more and more rare fish are being captive bred over in Asia, and being brought into the states. This creates more adaptable fish and eventually rarer fish will be easier to keep. (ie: Discus)
