Milfoil is overrunning my pond - i need help please.

So is your built or a natural spring fed pond? My parents just finalized digging their spring fed pond in Wausaukee bigger and they are waiting for it to refill. I hope theirs does not have this problem. What causes an infestation like this?

Excess nutrients, no native plants, and the OP just moved in last year. Any time a pond goes months or even years w/o maintenace, it can get overrun. OP is working on getting it back to full glory....

If yor parents just finished their pond, and it is not full, the nusiance plants and algae shouldn't be a problem this year. Snow melt will probably fill it in depending on size. Pond dye should probably be used next spring until some desirable plants fill in and take hold.

from what i have heard, this type of milfoil can grow and infest with just a small piece (1"). might of even been stuck to a duck, or some other bird.

this pond was built, it is about 1/3 acre in size.
