California Department of Fish and Game has done tests on large numbers of the dead fish and they all show no signs of foreign substance poisoning. Water tests showed nothing out of the ordinary (for a busy port) except for very low dissolved oxygen. They say this happens every few decades...a predator chases a few one direction, and as a result, the rest follow. A few entered the port and the whole shoal followed. The strong Santa Ana winds trapped them in the port and the shallow water could not sustain such numbers of fish which caused the oxygen levels to quickly be depleted and thus caused several million Sardines to suffocate overnight. The Seabirds, Seals and Sea Lions feasted that morning to the point that some Pelicans were unable to get off the ground due to their distended bellies.
Must be all the oil I been drinking
I was thinking LA ~ as in Louisiana
