for fw aquarium plants sold commonly like javafern and stuff like that

depends on how much trimming you want to do, i had a baby java fern in my 5g cube and the adults in my 29g. unlike fish there isn't a min. tank size for plants, ever looked up some pico planted tanks? i've seen plants in an incandesent lightbulb. here's some really neat pico- http://www.aquahobby.com/tanks/e_tank0603.php

my favorite plants for Nano tank is Anubias nana/petite, Hemianthus micranthemoides, Micranthemum umbrosum, bacopa australis, riccia, moss and Hemianthus callitrichoides

well, generally limitations qith plants come to adult height. basically , it can live in your 10G tank as long as it won't grow too far out the top.

Or have problems with roots. Amazon sword plants can't live in a 10 comfortably, their roots will extend much farther than a 10 gallon, but the top won't.

but what if that 10g is 8"x8"x36"(LxWxH)? that would be enough for a grown sword
