I dob't know about Reds but I know Silvers grow very large and need a tank that is atlest 4' wide and about 750+ Gallons.

at least 240. there are many silvers being kept by people that dont have 750g tanks. thats just unrealistic

I have seen a 38" silver in a 70 gallon tank in a lfs for about 1.5 years. But it was also a strick vegitarian (something wrong with its brain) :)
Just keep in mind that they are long fish and have to turn around.

I don't know much about aro's. All I want for them is a good home. If the person can't buy a tank that large, built a pond and if he can't do that don' get the fish. OR buy a smaller Jardini type. No aro can live in a 75G.

agreed, but thats in a perfect world. i know my aro wont be in a 750g tank. i say absolute bare minimum would be a 2ft wide tank, 3ft wide would be ideal

My Silver is in a 120 gallon tank and he is about 2 feet long. He can still turn around and move around the tank and has the company of 2 big CK's. I wish I had a 180 or larger but I do with what I have. He lifted a heavy glass lid and jumped out of the tank one time and I just picked him off the floor and put him back in the tank. No problems. I have a big jar also in a 55 gallon. Raised him from a baby.
