If you can get a 300-400 gal. pre formed pond from home & garden store. The problem with giant fish is people always seem to think they can just find a home for them when they get to big. don't get the pet if you're not prepared to house it until it reaches adult size. i guess the same goes for the shovelnose. I learned the hard way it is not easy to find a home for you fish when most people have the same size tanks you do. I can't tell you the countless red tails 7 shovelnoses that die jsut because no one can keep them. I blame stores for this they sell to customers without telling them what the purchase will require long term.
nice fish though. not telling you what to do just suggesting. A pet store here doesn't even accept unwanted pacus or big cats anymore because they euthanized so many if no one buys them.

they don't tell them because most people don't think about indoor tropical ponds, and the stores know that the average person cannot afford a tank big enough for a rtc or tsn. Plain and simple if they let people know they will lose money on these gorgeous kitties.
