In the Philippines, the ID Shark is commonly referred to as Hammerhead Shark, Paroons are called Hi-Fin Hammerheads. I just bet someone just started calling them such and the practice spread...hehe

there is a saltwater shark called a bonnet head that reaches about 4 feet, looks just like a hammerhead

aside from that, my only guess is a bonnethead
if anyone says a pangius or other "shark" catfish looks remotely like a hammerhead shark they are C R A Z Y and they need to have their talking privileges revoked
