Loiselli also look similar to Jag and they're also smaller.

if it was black i would really doubt it was a freddy or loisellie just sounds like a juvie Jag thats stunted that has its black coloration but could be something else

Ok i wrote that in a rush His name is Gary and he had a indoor pond for his water cow(which died recently about 20") which was about radius of 4'

Loisellei and freddy's would still be too aggressive to "school"...

I think it's stunted. Probably bad water quality, too small a tank, or underfed...

Wow nice catch.

Your LFS guy is nuts... Paratilapia can reach a foot or more. The ones I saw at ACA were 11 inches or so. I think Polomax had some that were 13+.

That's hardly Mini...

My lfs has this jag but i was told it was a subspecies that stayed small and was all black in coleration ?

Maybe by subspecies he meant another Parachromis species. There's no such thing as a mini-jag. If it's all black it could just be stressed.
