Just a kid trying to build his post count, he got this going on all over the place.

Well I posted on this about this almost 2 weeks ago, and never checked back. Now that I did I see someone is getting angry and being....well, uncivilized. Well, let me start with this: Have you ever kept aros? Because you just made the claim "they sleep at night." Every night, when I turn off my aro's lights, he shoots to the surface because of the darkness and is 2x as active as when the lights were on. Night is also the time I feed him, as his feeding response is much more acute. So, no; aro's don't "sleep at night". Also, do you keep rtc's? Basically everything I've heard of rtc's in the wild is this: they swallow large crustaceans whole and, surprisingly, eat fruit. Yes, they DO eat fish. But catfish are called "bottom-dwellers" for a reason. The fish they eat are on the BOTTOM. Do you think an rtc goes up to the surface to try to chase around an arowana? Yes, they are lunge-feeders. Meaning, they sit on the bottom, slowly cruising around, and lunge at any fish that comes by.
Also, let me point at this. The rtc in the picture looks about hm 5 feet? No, he's not going to get that big in a 55 gallon. HE'S BIGGER THEN THE 55 GALLON. Max size would be 2-2 1/2 feet. Also, it's hard to call someone else ignorant when your grammar is as it is.

Oh just to point out. You all say this won't work. No, it probably work. However, if he keeps the rtc well fed, its just going to go all the way up to the top of the tank and chase down an arowana, right? And oscars aren't always mean. Everyone here would probably say my 13" arowana won't go with my 3" angel-fish, 5" bala shark and 7" farlowella island catfish right? My arowana could kill any of these fish easily if he wanted to. However, I've kept him with them since he was 6", so they're all one big happy family. None of the other fish have a single mark. Now, don't go off on a rant "how could you keep all of those fish together, they're incompatible!" I was mis-led to buy the arowana, not knowing what it would turn into. However, this has caused me to research everything on the internet I can possibly find about arowanas. And here I am.

I agree with gandalf, even if my post sounded like otherwise. Aros are actually nocturnal, according to what I've read. And the rtc isn't gonna eat the aros. But, I think rtcs are ugly fish, and I don't see why anyone would won't to keep a fish that could potentially grow up to be heavier than you.
