That's exactly the problem. Those tanks are too small to house anything overly aggressive. If you think about it all the big fish are aggressive and all the small ones are mellow. That's how they've been created, came about, or whatever anyone believes in.

Big fish are meant to be aggressive because of their size. They need to feed on any kind of smaller prey in their natural waters. Smaller fish will feed on any kind of foods they eat.

I.e. Big fish > small fish therefore big fish are more aggressive.

Sorry man, but can you get rid of those tanks and somehow manage to fit a nice 55 somewhere?

The only cool small fish that I can think of are archerfish.

you don't know about very many cool fish, then.

Dwarf pikes and ctenopomas :)

Dwarf pikes and ctenopomas :)

Actually I do, but not about many small cool fish. I'm mostly a big fish kind of guy.

But here's the thing dwarf pikes won't be able to live their full lives in a 10 or 20 gallon. Maybe the 29, but they may still get bigger.

And while I agree that exodons are alright, I never picture haivng just one in a tank that will be able to be THAT fish, that you know big cichlids, aros, datnoids, rays, etc. they just jump out at you. WOW look at that fish. You know what I'm saying?

I agree with you on the ctenopomas though. I just can't find any so I don't have experience with them, would like to keep one though. But don't you think the 20 gallon will still be too small? Just curious.

Anyway I'm going with my first answer - ARCHERFISH.

1 dwarf pike would be okay in a 20l or 29; smaller ctenopomas or microctenopomas would be fine as well. Larger ones like acutirostre (leopard cten) or kingsleyae are too big.

dwarf pikes only get 4-5" dude, some ctenopomas only get 4"

archerfish get 6"........ how can an archer work but not a dwarf pike or small ctenopoma?:screwy:

still, OP, do exodons!!:)

I'd go for exodons.
You'd be able to keep quite a few in a 29, just like a mini-shoal of piranhas.

Never heard of them being that small. I'm mostly a big fish guy, but if those are that small then they're awsome. My bad. Thanks for educating me though.

Anyway, I'm still sticking with archerfish.

exodons forsure!!
for that ten get a cray
