Im fixin to set up a non-aggresive community tank for bottom dwellers. So far the only occupant i have decided on is moving my peacock eel from the 150 to the new 55. I may add a few smaller loaches but right now im looking for some small catfish. I have a 3" madtom cafish that is the coolest fish. Its is just like a RTC but 3" instead of 3' he fights his way past the other fish for food and he can eat like a little Asian kid as a hotdog eating contest. Most small cats are these really pretty exotic looking bony cats like cory, raphael cats and pictus. Are there any other ugly small -5" like the madtom cat ?

Gotta say... some pretty BOLD words in your thread, I won't start on those but to answer your question you could be looking at something like a Striped rapheal or a pictus or three... it really depends on what your intersted in. Since your looking for ugly... it would depend on what you consider ugly, Some people consider Synos to be ugly but others find them great looking cats... Do a search on Planet catfish for the size your looking for and you'll get more than a hundred listings. Then narrow it down from there.

i did some research and came up with these:
Chaca Chaca: too expensive
Tatia sp.
Pseudopimelodus nigricauda
Heteropneustes fossilis
Tandus sp.
Liosomadoras oncinus: jaguar cat
Auchenipterichthys thoracatus
I like all of these but i've never seen them in the fish trade.

You can find some of them pretty easy...If you have a hard time just ask your LFS what they can get you from this list... The jag would be the easiest I'm sure and alot of LFS's have them in stock... aleast when ever I do the rounds in the States it sure seems to be a popular one ;) LOL

Microglanis Iheringi?

Readily available at chain pet shops in my area. Stay very small. Hide all day.

But I don't consider them ugly, sorry. :)
