I also vote for the Juruense, though it may not meet your 'eat everything' requirement. Problem with getting RTCs and TSNs is that you basically have to give them up for free to the petshop once the either one of them gets beyond 16 inches, and you have to have good relations with the petshop as well in order to do it most times..

Consider these 'not so monsters' but interesting cats nonetheless...

Chaca sp.

Pseudopimelodus raninus

Jaguar Catfish - Liosomadoras oncinus

For more of an 'odd-ball' cat, try some from the Cetopsis genus. Having a small school of around 4 individuals should be pretty neat. Small versions of the Paroon shark, IMO. I haven't kept them, but I have read that you can't mix them with any fish, as they will attack everthing in the tank, regardless of size. I have absolutely no idea if this is totally fictitious or not, but if anyone has kept them, I would be interested if this was true or not. They sure are pretty neat looking though!!

If you're looking for a mini-monster catfish. The hands down winner has to be Bagarius bagarius. These cats grow to about 8", need cooler temps (75 or lower), and have to have strong currents/clean water. For your efforts, you'll have a cat that can move like greased lightning and has a mouth full of teeth that would make a barracuda run for cover.

...and I bet it hides in decor 23/6, like its larger brethren.

I use a red darkroom light. It worked on crustaceans so, I figured I'd try it on the cats. I guess they can't percieve the red light because they're as active under it as they are when I turn the lights out.

hey odd ball could you find me some info on what fish are not aloud in wisconsin

i discovered this catfish about a year ago and looked and looked and looked but could not find anyone who sold them, so like i usually do, i forgot all about them. thanx for reminding me. and if you could point me in the right direction to were i could get one, that would be great. and since they need a temp lower than 75. can they be at a constant 72 degrees F.? thats the temp my tanks run at when i dont have a heater on them.

72 is fine. Just make sure you have a really strong current. My tank is between 69-72 and I'm pumping 800gph through a 65gal. No gravel in this tank. Just large river rock and a couple of large flat pieces of granite for the cat to suction to.
