Minimum Size

Probably. What are the dimensions?

How big do you want the pike to be before it goes in the pond? That will determine the size of growout tank you need.

First, you need to identify, positively, what species you've got, or are getting. Grass and redfin can live in a 75 gallon pretty much indefinately, whereas a northern or chain will require larger accomodations.

ive not heard of to many refer to Pickerel as pike he is talking about true northern pike that's simple to see and not its smaller cuisines.

o pike top minnows just like pikes and u only need a 55gal. If you do a 100gal u can have like 5-6 of them

What the hell is the point of preparing an aquarium for a baby fish when its just going to get bigger?

Well knowing when the pond will be built would certainly help the tank size issue.

REALY?!?! ahhah nice!! im bout to get 1! your absolutly sure though right? i dont know much about redfins and grass pickerel but i do know chains get huge

Hi, I caught a Chain Pickerel about 7.5" long on this past Wed. When I caught him he had a bulging belly. His belly has slimmed down but he doesn't seem to want to eat yet. I've got a bunch of 1" feeder fish in his tank. How long does it generally take chain pickerel to acclimate to captivity and eat?

Depends on the individual and the tank he's in. He'll do much better if you give him lots of plants or driftwood to lurk in. A pickerel exposed in the open is a stressed-out pickerel.
