Minimum sized tank for Marbled Pim?

I got my marbled pim a year ago. He was then about 10" for $40....my lfs always sell the bigger fish at a cheap price probably cuz not too many people can take them in. Now, they are selling them a little smaller around 7" for $60.
I do agree about the whiskers not touching the sides of the glass, and needs swimming room.
