Minimum tank for a florida gar?

as for datnoids, they will vary with the individual as is so often the case with pred tanks. i've kept indos and silvers with gars with no problems, they just need to be at the size where they can't be swallowed. keep an eye on the combo, and generally at the first or second sign of trouble, i would separate them as i have not seen problems with dats really work themselves out over time.

even though a 4' wide tank isnt required, why not give them room.
 
suer, if you can afford it. plus no point having an excessivly large tank if your water quality is compromised.

that was the practical side of fish-keeping talking...this particular species will very likely not need a 4' wide tank, so it's not necessarily needed. if you can provide it great, if not, it's not the end of the world.--
