Minimum tank height requirements

You cannot put most sword plants in a 14 inch deep tank. I had swords outgrow a 50 gal, and a 75 gal. in pretty short order,

I keep clown loaches and I have them in a 150 gal. They swim at all levels and are at the surface at feeding time. I am actually thinking I may need a bigger tank for them. They do hang on the bottom mostly.

I keep a lot of plecos (all under 6 inches). They are almost all in shallow tanks- 20Ls, 33Ls, 40Ls. I have some in a divided 125 gal but I only fill it about 2/3.

That is exactly why I would plant them.

If that was my aquarium I would put Polypterus in it.
Exactly what I was thinking of! Get a big ol' poly pile going. I doubt you're interested, but you could get over a dozen axolotls in there, too.

As for the original question though, I honestly think that'll be fine for a larger cichlid. It's a bit on the shallow side, but I don't think it'll be too problematic.
