hi what is the minumum tank size for and adult jag im gettin a 100gallon and want one.
As well as a GT will they mix? :D

100g is enough I believe. I think they get a little larger than oscars...we'll what the Jag owners say :)

I think I would not mix GT and Jag together...they are both nasty fish. But I guess it's worth a try?

Jag's grow to about 12" so thats slightly smaller than an Oscar you could house a jag in 75gal but if your getting a 100 gal thats even better.

The aquarium compatibility large species of jag can be perticularly agressive among there own kind and smaller fishes, But youngsters are reasonably compatable with similar sized fishes in the aquarium. So Ryan like i always say it's hit and miss trial and error go for it ihope it works out for you !

i actually had this combo before. it worked out until the jaguar hit sexual maturity(about 5 inch). then he ripped the tail clean off my gt. plus ive heard from a great deal of people jags grow to OVER a foot while gt's are UNDER.... not a good thing. try it out hope for the best, expect the worst. as for my gt i gave it to a friends mother who had an 75gal with a bunch of black sharks where he made a complete recovery but never re grew his tail... not that it stopped him he still killed all but one of the sharks. good luck.

My jags do fine with other fish as long as you don't have a male and female jag in the tank.

My big male is at least 12"

I got a proven breeding pair of 5" and they are nothing but TROUBLE! :swear: They took over my 55gal....They only thing they are good for is about every 2 months they give me over 300 fry to feed my other fish :naughty: .......

They are cool, but can some mean mofo's! So choose your tank mates very carefully....

Yup my big guy (12+") never causes any problems. If something messes with him he will put them in check though. He can be tough when he needs to be.

jags grow bigger than oscars. ive seen pussy jags and savage jags that wouldnt live with anything. all depends on the individual fish. you can try it but i'd bet the jag would put a whooping on the gt especially if they were adults.

ok well, if the jags are meaner than GTs i will go for a GT cos i dont want my arow to get hurt. thanks for the info guys.

You will get mixed advice compared to who you speak to and the experieces they have had

When i bought my Jag i was advised the minimum tank size was a 180gal for a full grown adult. Most of the information i have read supports this.
